Eilif Peterssen (1852-1928) was a Norwegian painter who is best known for his portraits, landscapes, and historical paintings. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and later in Paris, where he was influenced by the French Impressionists. Peterssen was one of the leading figures of the Norwegian art scene in the late 19th century and was a member of the influential artist group known as "Kristiania Bohemians". He was known for his use of vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes, which he used to convey the emotional intensity of his subjects. Peterssen's works can be found in many prominent Norwegian museums and galleries, including the National Gallery in Oslo.
